Welcome to the Puzzle Wizards FAQ. Here are some questions and answers!
Puzzle Wizards has been built by the original team behind Puzzle Pirates (2003). Puzzle Pirates pioneered the genre of Puzzle + RPG combined with a complex world of politics, economics and swashbuckling.
There are currently five developers working on Puzzle Wizards: Chief Wizard Staff (known as Capn Cleaver on Puzzle Pirates), artists Nemo and Subo (fka Bluebeard on PP) and engineers Grandeur Commander (fka Peghead on PP) and another mysterious engineer who remains nameless for now.
This is a ridiculously small team to be making a game as complex as Puzzle Wizards -- a larger company would have at least three to ten times as many people. So please be patient with us as we labor to fix bugs and add new things to the game as quickly as possible.
GGFolks is the name of our new studio. It is a sister company to Grey Havens, which operates Puzzle Pirates and Spiral Knights and has it's own crew of folks. GGFolks is a true indie endeavour: Puzzle Wizards has been nearly entirely internally funded with some help from a generous friend and participation in the a16z Speedrun accelerator for games companies in summer of 2023.
Puzzle Wizards is in early-access, which means the game is not at all finished, but is playable and hopefully fun. Every aspect of the game is in active development and subject to change. There are also lots of bugs, some of which we attempt to squish with every new release.
